【first brain】

Your ancestors began to "barter" from a certain period of time.

It is the beginning of economic society.

Nowadays, we buy things with cash or credit cards, but essentially it's like bartering with "currency".

"Bartering" should happen when what you need matches what they need.

Something similar happens in the roots of plants and in the intestines of animals.

The roots of plants are in the soil, but many microorganisms in the soil live around the roots.

Roots and microorganisms live while exchanging necessary substances with each other.

In the intestines of animals, there is a world of microorganisms called "intestinal flora", and they live while exchanging necessary items between the intestines and microorganisms.

Your body is made up of about 37 trillion cells, but the number of microorganisms living in your gut flora is about 100 trillion.

They don't just barter, they also request what they want.

When you want to eat vegetables, it may be a request of intestinal bacteria.

By the way, the "intestine" is formed first in the development of the individual "your body" and in the development of the lineage of animal evolution.

Other internal organs are extensions and extensions to assist the "intestines".

At the same time, the "enteric nervous system" for controlling the secretion of digestive enzymes and peristalsis for the "intestine" to perform digestion is also formed.

The rest of the nervous system, including the "brain", extends from the "enteric nervous system," so to speak, like a "brain".

Therefore, the "enteric nervous system" is the oldest "first brain".

The "enteric nervous system" makes autonomous judgments independently of the "brain" and controls each part.

In addition, there is a thick hotline between the ``enteric nervous system'' and the ``brain'', and visceral sensory information is uploaded from the ``gut'' to the ``brain''.

【second brain】

Each peripheral nerve connects to the brainstem (medulla oblongata, pons, midbrain) through the spinal cord.

The "brain stem" is in charge of "functions that maintain life in a constant state" such as respiratory and circulatory organs.

The 'cerebellum' behind the 'brain stem' is responsible for the function of coordinating movement, including postural control.

The "limbic system (amygdala, hippocampus, etc.)" located in the center of the "brain" governs emotions, instincts, and memories, and is in charge of "functions that determine pleasure and displeasure."

By the way, when do you feel "pleasant"?

When you enjoy reading alone on the beach while soaking up the sun on the weekend?

Or when you celebrate with your friends after completing a big task?

A post-shower beer at the end of the day is also a “pleasing” moment.

Here, ``pleasure'' means ``a state that expands the storability of the species''.

When you feel "pleasure", you should be in that state.

Satisfying appetite and sleep desires enhances an individual's ability to sustain life.

In addition, sexual desire (raising children is also part of sexual desire) increases the possibility of progeny.

All of these create a state of 'comfort' that 'extends the conservation potential of the species'.

Needs for social status and needs for approval in relationships with others are tools that increase opportunities to satisfy appetite, sleep, and sexual desires (these are called expansion needs). returned to desire.

The limbic system, which has the function of determining pleasure and displeasure, can be called the second brain.

【where emotions are born】

You have "feelings".

Everyone has "feelings" to varying degrees.

Where does this "feeling" come from?

"Happy" "Angry" "Sad" "Fun" "Like" "Dislike"

This "feeling" has no reason.

To be precise, it happens without the recognition of a clear reason.

What exactly are "feelings"?

"Emotion" is the result of judging "pleasant or unpleasant" about the internal and external environment surrounding you (the state of your internal organs is one of the environments).

Judgment of "pleasure/discomfort" follows the standard of "instinct" of "expansion of the preservation possibility of the species".

In other words, "feelings" are born from "instincts" that are programmed in your DNA.

If so, the place where "emotion" arises is the "first brain", the enteric nervous system, and the "second brain", the "limbic system".

Also, various "feelings" arise in you, but there is no way to know the real cause.

Because the areas dominated by these two brains are the areas of the "unconscious", they do not rise to your "consciousness".

Don't ask your lover, "Why do you like me?"

The answer is always "lie".

Because the other person just followed their own "instinct" and doesn't know the real reason.

And so are you.
